Shoulder & Elbow Solutions “One Stop Clinic”

Mr Ford Qureshi uses the latest in ultrasound technology to offer a One-Stop Specialist Clinic whereby his patients have a personal consultation and a diagnostic ultrasound scan performed by himself with treatment all in one session. He uses a portable ultrasound machine in the diagnosis and treatment of a whole range of shoulder and elbow injuries.

Ultrasound is a very simple and safe procedure taking only a few extra minutes to perform. Any shoulder injections can be placed accurately under ultrasound guidance thus improving the effect and accuracy of the injection.

The aim of this clinical service is to provide an immediate diagnosis and early treatment for his patients. It also reduces the number of days the patient has to take off work and there is no further time waiting for shoulder imaging tests. Patients can also see what is wrong with their shoulder as Mr Qureshi explains his findings as he performs the ultrasound. It also saves on the need for more expensive MRI scans.

Patients can then be assessed immediately by a specialist physiotherapist for treatment. If arthroscopic “keyhole” surgery is needed is can be performed as a day case procedure at a later date.

What Anaesthetic Do We Use for Shoulder Surgery

We provide an article for you to read about how we use different types of anaesthetics for shoulder surgery. Usually modern types of anaesthesia utilise a "block" which is local anaesthetic administered around nerves to remove the pain you will feel from the surgery. The commonest one is called an interescalene block.
